Board and Training

A Board and Training program at the trainer's home is a dog training service where your dog stays with the trainer for a set period. During this time, the trainer works with your dog on specific behaviours and training goals. The program is ideal for owners who want professional training but may not have the time to commit to regular classes or need help with more challenging behavioural issues.

Here’s how it typically works:

1. Pre-Training Consultation

  • A free phone consultation will access your dogs needs and recommend the correct program for enrolment.

2. Boarding the dog

  • The dog is dropped off at the trainer’s home, where it will stay for the duration of the program. This provides the dog with a controlled environment, where it can focus on learning without distractions from its usual home setting.

  • The dog undergoes structured training throughout the day. This may include basic obedience (sit, stay, come, etc.), leash manners, recall, or behavior modification.

  • Depending on the program, training may also involve socialization with other dogs and people or working through specific behavioral issues.

  • Sessions can be both one-on-one and in group settings with other dogs, depending on the dog's needs.

3. Daily Routine

  • The trainer incorporates training into the dog's daily routine, making it a part of normal activities like walks, meals, and playtime.

  • The trainer will also provide enrichment activities to keep the dog mentally stimulated and engaged.

4. Regular Updates

  • Throughout the program, the trainer typically provides updates to the dog’s owner, including progress reports, videos, or photos, so the owner stays informed about the dog's progress.

5. Transfer of Skills

  • At the end of the program, the owner will have a session with the trainer to go over the skills the dog has learned. The trainer will show the owner how to maintain and reinforce the training at home.

  • This session can also include tips for transitioning the dog back into its home environment smoothly.

6. Follow-up Support

  • Many trainers offer follow-up support to ensure the dog continues to progress after going home. This might include a few follow-up sessions, phone calls, or advice as needed.

Overall, a Board and Train program at the trainer’s home is an effective way to address specific training needs and behaviours while providing a structured environment for the dog. It offers the highest success rate of any other program.

What dog lovers say about us

Jessica Urbinati

Uncle Max is the best dog sitter & trainer! Jules loves visiting him and he treats her just like one of his own pups! I know when he is boarding her for us that she's safe and well taken care of whether its a few days or 10 days! Jules & I thank you very much as always 😊🐕”

J Marchese

“Max is the sweetest, most dedicated dog trainer you could ask for. My puppy Jake was rescued when he was 12 weeks old and suffers from anxiety and is terrified of “walking anywhere near cars”.

Max has been working with Jake for a few months now on private behavior training sessions, and Jake has improved tremendously.
Max is very caring and Jake LOVES him! I witnessed his interactions with other dogs during a socialization class, and all the other dogs love him too! I 100% recommend Max as a trainer and I am beyond grateful for all that Max has done for us and our little Jake.”

Max is great with our Shiba. He is very patient and caring. He puts a great amount of effort in training her. And our Shiba just loves Max. I highly recommend Max for your dog training needs!”
